Academic Domain:
Counselors assist students with high school and post-secondary educational planning and programming to ensure that students graduate High School well-prepared for post-secondary education and career opportunities. In addition, counselors help students with selecting coursework that supports their post-secondary choices, both educational and vocational. Counseling and support services include:
- High school course selection and planning
- Monitoring transcripts for graduation status
- Referring students for tutoring
- Individual student meetings for academic counseling
College/Career Domain:
Counselors assist students by providing support pertaining to post-secondary options, such as, vocational/career schools, college admissions, college entrance examinations, scholarships, financial aid and completion of college or vocation/career school applications. Counseling and support services include:
- Assistance with Career Exploration
- ASVAB and SAT/ACT registration information and fee waivers
- College and Vocational/Career application assistance
- College, Military, and Vocational/Career Resources
- College and Military Representative visitations/presentations
- College and Vocational/Career Fairs College Admissions Workshops
- Financial Aid workshop information
- Individual student meetings for post-secondary planning
- Letters of recommendation, secondary school reports, mid-year reports
- NCAA/NAIA qualification and registration assistance
- UC/CSU and Community College application workshops
Personal/Social Domain:
Counselors are available to discuss personal concerns with students. If additional support is needed, students and parents may obtain professional outside referrals. Students have access to group counseling, and when appropriate, consultations with the school Nurse or school psychologist. Counseling and support services include:
- Crisis intervention
- Mental Health Resources available on a variety of teen issues
- Personal counseling and counseling group meetings
- Referrals for outside professional counseling
